Personal statement
I bring into the classroom the knowledge and experience of working in a variety of industries and positions including being trained and working professionally within the performing arts. Consequently, I value learning, as demonstrated by my attendance to professional development sessions for teachers outside of my university studies. These sessions have broadened my understanding and practices for supporting student learning and diverse student needs, as I believe it is important to value every student as a unique individual and learner by getting to know students and how they learn. This knowledge assists in planning for and implement differentiated learning goals as well as scaffolding student learning, to ensure ACARA achievement standards are met. This in turn creates empowered learners, with a growth mindset as well as critical and creative problem-solving skills which is demonstrated by students during performing arts activities and performances. I am passionate about building positive relationships and creating a diverse and inclusive classroom community through effective communication with students, parents and colleagues as well as reflecting upon and improving my teaching programs as seen in the dance community created at my ballet schools and the continual refinement and improvement of my Drama Program.
